Swansea started their season in the Europa League in style after a dominant 4-0 win against Swedish side Malmo.
New recruit Wilfried Bony scored a brace on his debut as the Welsh side won with some style.
Swansea started well, with debutants Jordi Amat, Jonjo Shelvey and Wilfried Bony combining in the first minutes of play to come very close to an early goal, impressing the fans who came out to watch the game at the Liberty Stadium.
Swansea faded soon after, with Malmo starting to take a foothold in the game. The Welsh side had new defender Jordi Amat to thank, after he kept the Swedish side from finding the breakthrough.
Yet, Swansea found the net soon after, with their Spanish striker Michu composed enough to find the net after a slip by Malmo defender Filip Helander.
Last season’s 18-goal-scorer Michu made no mistake and kept his cool to slot the ball home.
Swansea scored again ten minutes after half-time. New recruit Wilfried Bony found the net twice within five minutes. The first came after a pinpoint cross from Wayne Routledge was headed in by Bony.
The second after defender Angel Rangel’s shot come bouncing back off the post, a tap in for Bony. It was now Swansea’s game, they could now take their foot off the gas which they did until late on in the game.
Another new recruit made it 4-0, with Alejandro Pozuelo scoring a spectacular goal on 86 minutes. No more goals came after and this was the finishing scoreline
After a fantastic show from Swansea and a master class from their new recruits, they can now go to Sweden next week knowing they should be through into the next round of qualifying, although this doesn’t mean they can be complacent.
