Cristian Tello has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Nou Camp until 2018, according to the Daily Express.

The attacking midfielder had three years left on his previous deal, and his buyout clause has now increased from €10m to €25m.

There had been a high amount of speculation over the 21-year-old’s future, with Liverpool, Schalke and Borussia Dortmund all being reported as potential destinations for the youngster.

But the Spaniard has decided to stay and fight for his place with the Spanish champions, after he made just 12 starts for in the Primera Liga last season.

Tello is a product of the Catalan Club’s famous La Masia youth academy, which has produced the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas among others.

Since making his debut for the Barcelona first team in November 2011, Tello has gone on to score 15 goals in 56 appearances, and he will now face a fight with Ibrahim Affelay, Alexis Sanchez and Pedro to play more regular football.

He is yet to make his senior debut for the Spain national side, but was part of the Spain Under 21 team that won the European Championships in Israel earlier this summer.
