Outrageous two-footed lunge in Chinese Super League

Published Add your comment

Liaoning Whowin star Zhang Jingyang's outrageous lunge earned him a straight red card during the tie with Shanghai Shenhua.

With Whowin looking to break into the top three of the Chinese Super League, tensions were running high with so much to play for - but the 24-year-old midfielder let the occasion get the better of him.

In a desperate attempt to retrieve the ball, Jingyang recklessly lunged at his opponent. What ensued was rather comical.

Rather than carrying out a mis-timed tackle on the player in possession, Jingyang completely wiped out another opponent who was shielding his teammate.

Cue a mass-brawl involving players, officials and coaches from both teams, with the referee struggling to restore parity.

The game ended 1-1, with Liaoning Whowin halted in their tracks on their march towards the top three.
