With the playoffs looming large, the end could be approaching for the current drugs scandal tearing it's way through Major League Baseball.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Monday appears to be the deadline set for the 14 professional players to accept their suspensions for their involvement with the now infamous Biogenesis of America anti-ageing clinic.

The group of players accused includes the MLB's highest earner Alex Rodriguez and 'A-Rod' is widely expected to receive a more long-term ban, which he must accept or risk never playing again.

A source disclosed that the beginning of next week will herald two announcements from the powers that be in the MBL, one listing the players who have accepted their suspensions, and the other depicting the names of those who have challenged their proposed bans.

The majority of the culprits involved will face a standard 50 game ban for their actions, but Rodriguez could be staring down the barrel of almost four times that amount.

This is due to accusations that highlight A-Rod as having not only been involved with the clinic- which is believed to have produce performance-enhancing drugs - but also as having recruited other players.

Rodriguez was set to talk to reporters recently, but refused to speak before cameras.
