In recent years the wage structure has acted as a barrier when Arsenal have been trying to make high profile transfers.
On many occasions, Arsenal's transfer targets have been lured away from the temptation of north-London by rival clubs with more economic firepower like Chelsea and Manchester City.
However, things are about to change at Arsenal and they will be able to pay higher wages and attract more players with better quality to the club.
One reason why Arsenal will be able to offer higher wages is due to the players sold and released by the club.
Arsenal have sold or released several players who were high earners on the wage bill with the likes of Andre Santos, Sebastien Squillaci and Andrey Arshavin, as well as others, all leaving the club. Following their departures, Arsenal will now have a substantial amount of money to offer in terms of wages. This will allow Arsenal to compete equally with rivals.
Additionally, with the reported new financial backing, Arsenal will be able to contribute even more money into new signings for both player wages and transfer fees.
Having the power to offer higher wages could tempt more top class talent to the club and help Arsenal to improve further.
This money should be used on the marquee signings Arsenal need and should also prevent them from losing transfer targets all because of a lack of funding.
Spending the money sensibly will fire Arsenal into a whole new calibre and start competing for major honours again.
