Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Clint Dempsey is on the brink of joining Everton, according to reports.
Metro claims the American international is not flying to Monaco for Spurs’ prestigious friendly against Claudio Ranieiri’s side, and has instead jetted to San Francisco.
The Toffees are currently based in California, having beaten Juventus to set-up a Guinness Championship final showdown against Real Madrid.
Speculation had linked the 30-year-old with a move to the MLS, with both Toronto and Seattle mooted as possible destinations for the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder.
But, the paper claims that Merseyside could now be Dempsey’s next destination, as manager Roberto Martinez looks to bolster his ranks at Goodison Park over taking over from David Moyes earlier this summer.
The move would come 12-months after Dempsey almost joined Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers failed in a £6million bid to bring the player to Anfield.
And, Everton may now capitalise, as Dempsey looks surplus to requirements under Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane.
