Harry Redknapp will want a swift return to the Premier League with Queens Park Rangers after being relegated from the top-flight after a two-year stint.

The R's have been labelled as Championship title favourites and undoubtedly have the strength in depth to bounce straight back as they start the campaign at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

Redknapp is likely to give new signing Charlie Austin a starting place up front and could partner Loic Remy, despite speculation surrounding his future.

Fellow summer recruits Danny Simpson, Richard Dunne and Karl Henry are also in contention to start after coming through pre-season unscathed.

The 66-year old will also have Anton Ferdinand, Joey Barton and Alejandro Faurlin at his disposal after returning from loan spells abroad last season.

Rangers will want a repeat of their last opening day result at this level when they beat Barnsley 4-0 at Loftus Road in 2010 - starting their sixth consecutive league campaign at home.

Last time The Hoops were in the second-tier they were heavily reliant on attacking midfielder Adel Taarabt, who was the club's top scorer with 19 goals, but have since then recruited more fire power.

Dave Jones's side is starting their second spell in the Championship after escaping relegation by four points - and four places.

Jones will be hoping for better fortune in front of goal starting on Saturday after failing to score in 16 of their 46 Championship games - no club exceeded that.

To help repeating that statistic, the 56-year-old has brought in 23-year-old Rapid Vienna striker Atdhe Nuhiu.

Jones will be clutching to the fact that the Owls have only lost once in eight seasons on the first day of the season. But when travelling to Loftus Road on the opening day it had ended in disappointment.

The last time these two clubs met on the on this fixture was 42 years ago when the Hoops registered a 3-0 victory.
