Ex-Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has not been shy to discuss the prospect of a Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United transfer – and he’s been at it again, according to the Daily Express.

The report carries quotes from the former Madrid chief, taken from an interview with Sky Sports News, in which Calderon claimed Manchester United have already held talks with the Bernabeu hierarchy this summer.

Ronaldo ‘s future has been the subject of intense speculation, despite his sensational goal record at the club. Questions remain over his happiness in the Spanish capital, with player and club seemingly at loggerheads over a contract renewal.

And Calderon, who earlier last week spoke about Ronaldo’s contract situation, has now claimed talks have been ongoing between United and Real Madrid.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Calderon said: “It seems that Manchester United are interested in having him back.

“I know there have been talks where they have expressed interest.”

This claim comes shortly after a Daily Star report that suggested a Ronaldo return to Old Trafford was moving ever closer.

And another report from the same paper today claims Real Madrid are lining up Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez - paving the way for Ronaldo to depart.

It suggests Liverpool are planning for life without Suarez by targeting Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa, and Madrid want another striker having sold Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli.

With Ronaldo refusing to commit to the club, Madrid chiefs want to bring in his replacement - Bale - and another forward - Suarez - before sanctioning the sale of the Portuguese star back to United. The report suggests Madrid want all deals completed within the next 14 days - and with Bale not travelling with Tottenham to Monaco for preseason, that part of the deal is progressing forward well.

It’s a saga that has run on all summer already, but has been provided greater oxygen by the recent publicity generated by Calderon.

The former-president has been very forthcoming with what he believes to be going on behind the scenes at the Bernabeu and Old Trafford.
