Joe Ledley is keen to negotiate a new contract to keep him at Celtic as soon as he possibly can.
The Welshman has just entered the final year of his current deal with the SPL Champions, but is confident that doubts surrounding his future can be resolved in the near future.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Ledley explained the current situation regarding his contract: "Everything is still on hold at the moment. As I said to the gaffer, I'd like to concentrate on the pitch more than off the pitch.
"Hopefully, my agent can come up soon to sort everything out and the club offer me a new deal. It's a very important couple of weeks."
The midfielder arrived at Celtic Park three summers ago. In that time he has picked up two league and two cup-winning medals respectively.
Right now he is enjoying his career and playing for Celtic has presented him with an opportunity to participate in the latter stages of the Champions League.
This season the club are currently looking to progress past Elfsborg on their way to the group stages of Europe's elite competition - something that is a welcome distraction for Ledley.
"It's a fantastic situation we're in. Hopefully, I can just concentrate on my football first, qualify for the Champions League then go from there," the 27-year-old told the Scottish newspaper.
As he approaches the peak of his playing career, Ledley is pretty confident of where his future should lie.
"I'm getting older. I'm going to be 27 this season. I'm very happy here and it's a fantastic club.
"This contract is important to me and hopefully it's sorted sooner rather than later," the midfielder succinctly summarised.
