Whenever Tyrann Mathieu steps onto a football field, you know he's going to make a great play. In his first week of training camp with the Arizona Cardinals, Mathieu already has intercepted two passes in three plays and has shown his value to the team.

He has been practicing with the second team at free safety and is the dime cornerback. Head coach Bruce Arians has been impressed and Mathieu might slide up the depth chart very quickly.

He was kicked off of LSU's football team because he violated the drug policy in 2012. Before that incident he was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and also won the Bednarik award, given to the best defensive player in college football.

Him and Morris Claiborne formed a tandem in the defensive secondary that was the best in the nation in 2011. In his two seasons at LSU, he recorded four interceptions, returned two punts four touchdowns, and forced 11 fumbles recovered six and returned two of them for touchdowns.

After he was kicked off the team, he lived with fellow teammate Patrick Peterson's parents in Florida. In the following months he trained and was preparing for the NFL Combine and LSU's Pro Day.

At the Combine, he ran a 4.46 40 yard dash time and impressed scouts with his reactions and footwork. Many people questioned whether or not he would be a good NFL player because of his disciplinary issues and small stature at five feet nine inches. He uses this as motivation and says it lights a fire under him.

I think Mathieu will have a very long and successful career in the NFL because he has a solid work ethic and a knack for making plays and finding the ball. As long as he stays out of trouble, he will be a popular name in the NFL for years to come.
