It's the stuff of nightmares: a hulking centre back hoofing the ball into your face from a yard away.
But nightmare became reality this weekend in Brazil, as a female linesman was taken off of her feet by a direct hit to the face.
In a scenario weirdly reminiscent of Sian Massey being knocked to the ground during a game between Cardiff City and Middlesborough, viewers are left flinching as the official takes a ball to her face from close range.
In the match, contested by Atletico Go and Parana, Nadine Bastos was knocked off of her feet but soon recovered after medical attention was administered.
A mere 60-seconds after the incident the assistant referee was back up and patrolling the touchline, as good as ever.
