German time trialist Tony Martin will once again try to defend his World Championship Individual Time Trial title in late September. His main opponents will be Fabian Cancellara and Bradley Wiggins.

This year's Men's Individual Time Trial at the UCI Road World Championships will be held in late September in Florence, Tuscany.

Tony Martin is set to defend his title after having won almost all of the most important Individual Time Trial stages this year. Indeed, he most notably won the Tour de France's time trial in stage 11 beating the final winner Chris Froome. Furthermore, we have to add to that time trials victories in Tirreno-Adriatico, Tour of the Basque Country, Tour de Romandie and Criterium du Dauphine. All of this makes him the favourite to retain his title this year.

2008 Olympic gold medalist and four time World Champion Fabian Cancellara will be keen to secure a fifth victory. Indeed, 'Spartacus' had an amazing season winning both Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. He will try to build on that and regain his title.

2012 Tour de France winner and gold medalist Bradley Wiggins will be mounting a serious challenge this autumn to win the only major title which is missing on his record. Although he experienced one of the hardest seasons in his career, Wiggins is coming back to his best level. Indeed, he just won last week the Tour of Poland's Individual Time Trial putting Cancellara and Taylor Phinney one minute behind him.
