Dale Steyn and James Anderson are undoubtedly the two best seam bowlers playing the game today. One often asks himself who's better?
Statistics don't lie, and the numbers stack up considerably in the favour of Steyn.
Anderson might be more skilful but Steyn most definitely is more lethal and any captain would rather have the South African fast bowler in their ranks.
Steyn has been the number one bowler in the Test arena for four years and the Phalaborwa express is expected to hold that spot for a while yet.
Anderson has never reached the number one spot - mainly due to Steyn hoarding it - and finds himself ranked only seventh among the world's best bowlers.
Steyn possesses a better strike rate and average than Anderson and also has claimed more scalps in less games than the England star.
Both bowlers are extremely gifted and can swing the ball both ways. Steyn has a few extra KMs on his clock which makes him even more dangerous.
Both bowlers spearhead their national team's bowling units and in 2012 South Africa clinched the Test series in England. And although this is by no means a reflection of who's better, it definitely does strengthen Steyn's case.
Over the past few months Anderson has strengthened his challenge showing great form but I still firmly believe Steyn is the better bowler.
Both are tremendous athletes and probably are far above the rest and we hope to see many more brilliant overs from the two.
