Barcelona are hoping to finalise a deal for Manchester City starlet Denis Suarez by the end of the week, reports talkSPORT.
The 19-year-old midfielder arrived at the Etihad Stadium from Celta Vigo in 2011, but has seen his progress halted after failing to make a significant first-team breakthrough.
Suarez has made just two senior appearances for Manchester City in the past two years, and looks unlikely to be given any more game time under the new stewardship of Manuel Pellegrini.
The Spain U20 international is understood to be keen to return to his homeland, with La Liga champions Barcelona ready to offer him an escape-route from the Premier League.
Gerardo Martino is hopeful that City will release Suarez from his contract - which still has one year to run - as they look to help the player get his career back on track at Camp Nou.
The sale of Thiago Alcantara to Bayern Munich and possible departure of Cesc Fabregas could open up a place in the Barcelona first-team squad for Suarez, depending on whether he is deemed ready for regular football in Spain.
Either way, it looks almost certain that Suarez will leave Manchester City before the close of the transfer window, after failing to live up to expectations during his stay in England.
