Christian Benteke is optimistic about the upcoming season, despite the fact that Aston Villa finished a lowly 15th and were threatened by relegation for much of the last campaign.
The striker was one of the few positives to be drawn from Paul Lambert's first year in charge.
Benteke was the club's top scorer, netting 19 goals in the league.
And he understands that this season he is going to have even more expectation thrust upon him.
"As a striker, a lot of people are waiting for me. The fans are waiting for me.
"So the pressure is going to be bigger around me but this is football and I accept that," Benteke told the club's official website.
"I can take that. I am young. I am confident. This is part of football. You have to be able to handle this pressure.
"This is the life I have chosen so I am happy to take this on. I love it.
"Last season was a very good first season for me. I was happy with it. But now it's behind me.
"I have to look forward and try to do the same or even better.
"I am excited about the new season. I can't wait for it to start. I am looking forward to it."
This time last year, the former Genk forward had an unknown quality about him as he was introduced to the Premier League.
Yet this season, all defenders will know about his game, which will help them to stop him scoring.
Nevertheless, the Belgium international is raring to get the season underway, and is evidently full of confidence.
He went on to add: "The objective is to do better than last season. We have quality in the team. We have to try to do better. That's our aim.
"It was maybe a tough beginning last season but we finished well so why not do something good this season."
Five wins in the final 10 games of the campaign elevated the club up and away from the relegation zone, setting a good mood within the Villa camp as they departed for the summer.
And according to Benteke, that feeling has carried over to pre-season: "I see it in training - everyone is happy and in a good mood. Everyone is excited.
"I think this team is going to grow and learn all the time. We are a young team. But we can do something good."
Paul Lambert has invested in young players full of potential. This season will be a big indicator of how good this squad really can become.
If the team are to further climb up the league, they will need Benteke to be in top goalscoring form once again.
