UEFA have announced the shortlist for Europe's Best Player of the 2012/13 season.
Barelona striker Lionel Messi, Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo and Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery have been nominated for their scintillating displays in Europe's elite competition.
Ribery, 30, played a huge role in Bayern's historic treble-winning season earlier this year, with Messi's Barcelona left stunned following Bayern's 8-0 aggregate win in the semi-finals of the competition.
Messi's club teammate Andres Iniesta claimed Europe's Best Player award last season, while Messi bagged the award the year before.
The winner will be presented to the media on August 29 when the draw for the group stages of the Champions League is made in Monaco.
UEFA named the nominees after reducing the original list of 10 selected by journalists from UEFA member countries.
