Liverpool are plotting a £6million move for Spanish winger Diego Capel, according to Metro.
Sporting Lisbon are reportedly prepared to let Capel go, but have already rejected two offers from French club Marseille, who are also keen on the 25-year-old winger.
Liverpool could look to finance the deal by selling Stewart Downing, who arrived at the club from Aston Villa in 2011 for massive £20million. Brendan Rodgers is reportedly ready to sell Downing for as little as £5million.
Reports suggest that Capel is keen on making a switch to England, with Anfield being a possible destination for the left-winger.
If Capel were to join the Reds, he would be their fifth signing of the summer, with Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas, Simon Mignolet and Luis Alberto already moving to Merseyside in the transfer window.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has already confirmed that Liverpool are still in the market to sign one or two players before the new season begins.
