Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is adamant that Cristiano Ronaldo will turn down the chance to rejoin Manchester United, and sign a new contract with the Primera Division club, reports Sky Sports.

Florentino Perez has frequently reiterated his desire to hand the Portuguese forward a new long-term deal at the Santiago Bernabeu, and remains confident that Ronaldo will put pen to paper, even though negotiations appear to have stalled.

The 28-year-old still has two years to run on his existing contract, but there have been suggestions that Ronaldo is planning to run down his current deal in a ploy to return to Old Trafford, if not this summer, then on a free transfer in 2015.

When asked about his future and if there is any truth in rumours about his desire to move back to Manchester United, Ronaldo's comments have been somewhat elusive, which has only fuelled speculation even further.

However, Ancelotti has spoken confidently about his belief that Ronaldo will commit his future to Real Madrid, when speaking at a press conference in Miami, on the club's pre-season tour of the United States.

"The player wants to renew his contract and the club want him to renew it too, so I don't think it's going to be a problem," the Italian was quoted as saying by Madrid-based newspaper AS.

"I think Cristiano and the club are relaxed about the issue. I don't know when it will happen, but I am certain that Cristiano is going to renew his contract with Madrid."

Since succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager, David Moyes has struggled in the transfer market, having failed with attempts to sign Thiago Alcantara and Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona.

A move for Ronaldo would surely be of interest to the former Everton boss, but if he signs a new long-term contract at Real Madrid, it will be a case of another transfer target that got away.
