Arsenal target Real Madrid striker

Arsenal are being linked with an audacious move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

French publication Le 10 Sport claims that Arsene Wenger has a substantial transfer kitty at his disposal this summer, and is considering an ambitious offer for the France international forward.

The paper cite additional reports that claim the Gunners are considering a €46million move for the player, after struggling in their pursuit of Uruguayan international Luis Suarez.

Arsenal have so far failed to make a major statement of intent in the transfer window, adding Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer but missing out on Gonzalo Higuain - who joined Napoli from Los Blancos.

Benzema would certainly provide the Gunners with more options in attack at the Emirates Stadium, with Olivier Giroud and Sanogo the only central strikers currently available to Wenger.

However, new Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti will certainly think twice about letting the former Lyon star leave the Santiago Bernabeu, as the 25-year-old is the only senior option available to him in the Spanish capital.
