When Christian Benteke arrived at Aston Villa at the beginning of last season, many people knew little about the big Belgian. But after netting 23 times in all competitions last season, he has become the one of the hottest prospects in England.
With Villa fighting to avoid relegation for most of the season, the Midlands club relied on his goals to keep them in the top-flight for another season.
And the Belgium international has accepted the pressure that will be on him to perform this season - but admits he thrives on this expectation.
"I am very happy to score some goals already in pre-season. I feel good. I feel really good and expect myself to do better than last season," he told the club's website. "When you score goals you get some really good confidence levels. As a striker, a lot of people are waiting for me. So the pressure is going to be bigger around me and I accept that."
The 22-year-old did a U-turn last month by extending his stay at Villa Park by signing a new contract after previously handing in a transfer request, and insists he is ready to repay the Villa fans.
Benteke, who signed from Genk for £7m, was linked to a summer move to London with Tottenham, despite declaring his love for arch-rivals Arsenal before he arrived in England.
