Apparently, Arsenal and Chelsea are still monitoring his situation, however it looks like Chelsea have ended their interest, instead signing Dutch magician Marko van Ginkel.
With the likes of Paul Scholes retiring last season, and inevitably Ryan Giggs in the near future, United need to sign a new central midfielder.
Primarily, they were heavily linked with Spain international Cesc Fabregas, however Barcelona's reluctance to sell - as well as the heavy price tag - seem to have put a halt on the move.
Although it appears slightly bizarre to turn their attention from Fabregas to Fellaini, the big Belgian international would be the ideal candidate for the position.
Fellaini is a strong force in the centre of midfield, possessing accurate passing and good shooting, and he also poses a big aerial threat. However, Moyes won't find it easy to prise him away from his former club.
Roberto Martinez knows just how valuable Fellaini is to the Everton squad, and will not settle for a low price.
The 25-year-old is also the subject of speculation from Arsenal, and Wenger's reluctance in the transfer market over the years appears to have drawn to a close after his 40 million plus one pound bid for Liverpool's Luis Suarez.
Should Manchester United's interest solidify, they will probably be facing a bidding war for Fellaini.
At 25, the opportunity for a move to Manchester United could not come at a better time for him, if the two sides can come to an agreement about his price tag.
