Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo has urged the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea to get in contact over a possible transfer, as he is ready to talk about a move.

According to Kicker, Bayern’s fellow Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg got in touch ten days ago about the possibility of signing the Brazil international.

However, both Arsenal and Chelsea have been credited with an interest in Gustavo and will have been enthused by recent comments from his agent, Roger Wittman.

“If Bayern allows it, we will talk with every major and serious club out there, including Wolfsburg,” he is quoted as saying in the report.

Arsene Wenger is currently embroiled in one of this summer’s biggest transfer sagas with Liverpool over the future of Luis Suarez, but he is reportedly also on the lookout for reinforcements in the defensive midfield area.

Gunners vice-captain Mikel Arteta was crucial in that position last season, but the Emirates Stadium outfit did not look as convincing when he was not playing.

Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is also being linked with central midfielders, most recently Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira.

Wenger and his Stamford Bridge counterpart, Jose Mourinho, will have to move fast if they do not want to lose out to Wolfsburg, as Bayern have admitted they are open to talks with them.

"If Wolfsburg agrees personal terms with Gustavo, we will then negotiate,” said CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

It will reportedly take a bid in the region of £15million for Arsenal or Chelsea to secure Gustavo’s signature.
