Brendan Rodgers is very keen on bringing in new talent to introduce more competition for places in his Liverpool squad.
The Northern Irishman has made it clear he wants extra cover for Spaniard Jose Enrique, but who would fit the bill at Anfield?
After missing out on their main target Lorenzo Malgarejo, Rodgers must now turn his attention to alternative left-back targets.
Here, Brad Gibson provides five transfer possibilities for Liverpool this transfer window…
1) Aly Cissokho
The Valencia man has been a target for Rodgers since his arrival at the beginning of the 2012/13 campaign. Cissokho is an established European full-back after successful stints at both Valencia and Ligue 1 giants Lyon.
The talented Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Valencia throughout the summer window and could be the man for Rodgers.
Cissokho would cost around £1million as an initial loan fee with a view to buy offer, for around the £4million mark for his services on a permanent basis.
2) Guilherme Siqueira
The established Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League throughout the summer, with Liverpool and Everton amongst Siqueira's suitors. But, it's Liverpool who have emerged as favourites for the 27-year-old's services.
Rodgers is said to be preparing a £12million bid for the Granada man to solve his left-back problems with Enrique often out due to injury.
Siqueira is a talented lad who can play on both the wing and at full back, he is a versatile player full of energy and could be a perfect match with the English game.
3) Faouzi Ghoulam
The young St.Etienne man has been strongly linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 outfit throughout the summer, and Liverpool have emerged as possible suitors for the 22-year-old left sided defender.
Ghoulam seems to be on Rodgers's list of summer targets and the Merseyside outfit would be confident of fending off interest from big spenders AS Monaco by offering a move to England, playing in the Premier League.
The promising Algerian would be a fantastic understudy to Jose Enrique and would keep the entire Liverpool defence on top of their game, threatening to break into the starting line-up.
4) Stefan Radu
The Lazio defender would be a suitable competitor for Jose Enrique after impressing throughout the 12/13 campaign for the Serie A giants. Radu enjoyed a successful campaign and is a promising full-back and is still only 26.
Radu would challenge week in, week out for a starting spot in Rodgers's starting XI and is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League and with Liverpool's European history they would be hopeful of landing the Romanian ace.
5) Jetro Williems
The young Dutch full-back shone in Euro 2012 and would be a major coup if Liverpool could land the starlet from parent club PSV Eindhoven.
The young lad has so much potential and would really push on to be an outstanding force in European football if the English club pursued his signature, despite the deal being unlikely, Liverpool can always hope as Williems is one of Europe's hottest properties.
