Harry Redknapp has confirmed he wants to sign Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe.

The QPR boss is desperate to recruit another striker to improve the quality of his forward line - as he currently only has three strikers at his disposal.

"I'd love to have Jermain. We made an enquiry but at the moment he's not available," Redknapp revealed as stated by the London Evening Standard.

Defoe had played three times under the English manager, first when playing for West Ham United, then for Portsmouth and finally for Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager, however, admitted that there is very little chance of bringing Defoe to Loftus Road, most probably because Defoe would not want to move to a Championship club.

QPR actually had a chance to sign Gary Hooper from Celtic to replace Loic Remy, who has completed his loan move to Newcastle United, but the Englishman opted to move to Norwich City instead for an undisclosed fee - believed to be around £5.5million.
