I take a look at a few players Real Madrid could sign instead of Gareth Bale; the key difference is, with these player’s you would get change out of £100 million.

3) Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Arsenal – England

Like Bale, Oxlade-Chamberlain worked his way up through the Southampton youth system, but instead of signing for Tottenham, he signed for rivals Arsenal.

At the tender age of 19, Chamberlain is the youngest of the three players on this list, but that doesn’t show in his performances. With electrifying pace, Chamberlain has managed to frighten defenders around the country with dazzling displays. Not yet at his full potential though, Chamberlain is a frightening prospect.

2) Christian Eriksen – Ajax – Denmark

One of the hottest prospects in the world, Eriksen came through the renowned Ajax youth system. At 21 years of age, Eriksen is already his country’s star player with 36 caps.

Not dissimilar to Bale, in the way he can play both left-wing and through the middle, but playing just off the striker is his preferred role. One key difference though, is Eriksen’s game isn’t based around pace and dribbling, while still fast, Eriksen likes to control the game and dictate the tempo more than Bale. While currently not as good as Bale, Eriksen could mature into one of the best players in the world; keep an eye out for the name.

1) Marco Reus – Borussia Dortmund – Germany

At the age of 24, Reus has been a late developer, only re-signing for his youth team Dortmund last year, but the German winger has made an instant impact.

Reus joined for Dortmund’s youth academy at only seven and spent ten years there before being released, never graduating to the first team. After that he signed for German minnow’s Rot Weiss Ahlen, after impressing there, he signed for Bundesliga outfits Borussia Monchengladbach. Now back at Dortmund, with four years left on his contract, Reus is quickly establishing himself as one of the most dangerous players in the world.
