Old Trafford will play host to a testimonial match for one of its all time greats, Rio Ferdinand, this Friday against Sevilla.

And the defender, ahead of his testimonial, has revealed in an interview with the Daily Star that he is in love with Manchester United - and will keep playing for the club until his body breaks down.

"For as long as my body allows me to, I'll keep on playing," Ferdinand told the Daily Mirror. "And for as long as I can stay at Manchester United, I will stay there.

"When I look at pictures ahead of the testimonial, it evokes memories and it has relit the fires a little bit in terms of winning things.

"Whether I can do it, we'll have to wait and see. But I've still got that burning passion to win things.

"I thought I'd be at United for a couple of years, maybe three or four, and then go abroad somewhere.

"But I just fell in love with United - the winning and the history of the club - and the pull has got stronger as the years have gone by."

Ferdinand was brought to the club by United's greatest manager Sir Alex Ferguson in the summer of 2002 on a five-year-deal, making him the most expensive British footballer in history at that time.

The club had shelled out a total of £30m for the defender which at that time was a huge amount of money. But the 34-year-old has paid back every penny that the club invested in him - going on to win six Premier League titles, two Football League Cups, four FA Community Shields, one UEFA Champions League trophy and one FIFA Club World Cup.
