Arsenal are ready to make a move for Chelsea and Manchester City target Geoffrey Kondogbia, though will have competition from La Liga giants Real Madrid.

The Daily Express are running with a report from Italy claiming Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is ready to make a move for the 20-year-old Sevilla star.

However, Jose Mourinho and Manuel Pellegrini have also been credited with an interest in France Under-20 international, though all three Premier League clubs could struggle to compete with Real Madrid.

The Santiago Bernabeu club moving for Kondogbia would be something of a surprise, as they have already signed defensive midfielder in Real Sociedad’s Asier Illarramendi.

Arsenal are short in the area in front of the back four, with Mikel Arteta the only player performing consistently in that area and Abou Diaby, unsurprisingly, suffering a long-term injury.

Chelsea may also be keen to hire more recruits in that area after sending young Spaniard Oriol Romeu out on loan to Valencia for a season.
