Barcelona are confident that David Luiz will tell Chelsea next week that he wants to join the La Liga champions, according to the Daily Mail.
The Catalan giants, now managed by Gerardo Martino, have pinpointed the Brazil international as their number one defensive transfer target this summer - and saw a £35m bid rejected by the Blues earlier this week.
The offer prompted Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho - who hardly had the best relationship with Barcelona during his three-year stint as Real Madrid coach, which ended at the end of last season - to say that the Nou Camp outfit were "wasting their time".
Despite rumours earlier in the transfer window that Mourinho was prepared to offload Luiz, it's now believed that the Portuguese coach regards the versatile 26-year-old as an integral part of his plans for the new season.
However, this may change if Luiz tells the club that he wants to join Barcelona, who are desperate to sign a top-level central defender before the transfer window closes.
Liverpool centre-back Daniel Agger is reportedly Barcelona's second-choice, but for now they remain intent on securing the services of Luiz.
