Danish defender scores Van Basten-esque volley

Marco van Basten created a small piece of history with his famous goal in the final of Euro '88 against the USSR.

The Dutch legend's narrow-angle volley is synonymous with the stylish brand Total Football made famous in his home country - and is up there with Maradona' s Hand of God and Carlos Alberto's 1970 wondergoal as one of the most iconic goals of all-time.

Well now there is another name and another goal to add to that illustrious list. Step forward and take a bow Peter Ankersen of Esbjerg.

the Danish defender hit one of the best goals we've seen here at GMS Towers for quite some time against AGF.

Taking a lofted pass on his chest towards the touchline, his ony option appeared to be lobbing a hopeful cross back into the middle of the box.

However the 22-year-old had other ideas as he unleashed a fearsome volley that unbelievably flew into the back of the net. How he managed to score from such an angle remains a mystery.

Check out the sensational goal below!
