Tottenham are to step up their interest in Blackpool's Tom Ince - should Gareth Bale complete a record-breaking move to La Liga giants, Real Madrid.

Andre Villas-Boas has been an admirer of the Liverpool academy graduate for some time, and were reportedly close to signing Ince back in the January transfer window.

However, a move never materialised and the 21-year-old winger has continued to stand-out in the SkyBet Championship, with Blackpool having taken six points from their first two league games this season.

More recently, Ince snubbed a move to Premier League new-boys Cardiff City last month to stay with the Seasiders and his dad - Blackpool manager Paul Ince.

But a move to Tottenham is likely to be too good an opportunity to miss, and the England under-21 international is reportedly keen to test himself at the highest level - even though he wouldn't be guaranteed a starting berth with Spurs.

Liverpool have first refusal on their former trainee - a clause inserted into his contract when he left for Blackpool in 2011, though Brendan Rodgers is not interested in re-signing Ince, leaving Tottenham as the leading candidates for the player's signature.

With Spurs set to receive a world-record fee for Bale, a move for Ince is likely to appeal to chairman Daniel Levy as the prudent spender would have to pay just £8 million to secure Bale's replacement.
