Robin van Persie is confident that Manchester United can defend their Premier League title this season after a promising start under David Moyes.
Van Persie, who scored two goals on Sunday when United beat Wigan Athletic in the Community Shield, says United are clear favourites to retain their Premier League title.
After a bumpy pre-season under new boss Moyes, United have won their first silverware this season.
United looked far from their best during their pre-season games, where they conceded 13 goals in only seven matches, earning only two victories overall.
Despite many people questioning if Moyes can maintain United's domestic supremacy, Van Persie is certain United can adapt under Moyes and enjoy further success in the future.
"We're doing really well and I fully believe in this team," the Dutchman told ITV1. "Currently we are still champions of the Premier League and I believe we are strong favourites when it comes to retaining the title."
Van Persie will undoubtedly be a key player for United this season, and he started the season on the right note, by scoring two goals this Sunday.
"I'm really happy, we've won our first trophy this season and it's a great day for for the fans, for us and the manager as well. I'm really glad for everyone," the Netherlands international aded.
