With SummerSlam under a week away, Give Me Sport contributor Anthony Hayes gives his predictions for all the matches.
Dolph Ziggler and Kaitlyn vs. AJ Lee and Big E Langston:
Dolph Ziggler’s long awaited World Heavyweight Championship reign was one of the biggest disappointments in recent memory and so a win is exactly what Ziggler needs. Kaitlyn arguably needs a win just as much as Ziggler after losing to AJ Lee multiple times over the last few months.
Winners: Dolph Ziggler and Kaitlyn
Kane vs. Bray Wyatt:
In the first ever ‘Ring of Fire’ match in WWE history surely there can only be one outcome. The debut of The Wyatt Family had been long awaited by many WWE fans and has been fairly well received. Bray will have a chance to show he is as good in the ring as on the mic. Kane on the other hand will be taking a break to film See No Evil 2 and it would do wonders for Bray if he could take out Kane at SummerSlam.
Winner: Bray Wyatt
Cody Rhodes vs. Damien Sandow:
WWE has a precedent for burying a superstar straight after winning the Money in the Bank ladder match and it is likely they will do it again. Rhodes has been well received since his heel turn and Sandow is unlikely to win the World Heavyweight Championship any time soon, especially since heel Alberto Del Rio is champion. In all honesty Rhodes needs this win if he will ever achieve anything in wrestling.
Winner: Cody Rhodes
Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio:
This match was quite a surprise for me to see. These two guys don’t really have an obvious storyline set out, they don’t have much chemistry but they could light it up in the ring. Their match last week was one of the best Smackdown matches in recent years. The fact the match went over 20 minutes could be a sign that RVD will be added to the match making it a Triple Threat match. If RVD is added he would walk away as champion, if he doesn’t then the winner will be…
Winner: Alberto Del Rio
CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar:
The best vs. the beast. WWE have finally made Brock Lesnar into the beast they always wanted him to be. CM Punk on the other hand has won just one of five pay-per-view matches in 2013 and another loss wouldn’t be the end of the world. Punk will continue his feud with Heyman after this match by feuding with Curtis Axel.
Winner: Brock Lesnar
John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan:
Daniel Bryan is more over than anyone has been since the summer of Punk in 2011. Bryan is also one of the best wrestlers in the world and arguably deserves a WWE Title run more than anyone in the company. Cena had to wait for over a year for a title run and he will be willing to let the title go after a five month reign. Unfortunately Bryan is unlikely to walk out with the title and Randy Orton is conspicuous in his absence from the SummerSlam card…
Winner: Daniel Bryan
Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton:
Daniel Bryan will have one of the shortest WWE Championship reigns in history as Randy Orton cashes in his Money in the Bank contract to become the new WWE Champion.
Winner: Randy Orton
Overall this could be a very good pay-per-view and could lead to some interesting feuds in the WWE during the second half of the year.
