All over Europe, young players are rising through the ranks and becoming true prospects for the future, with excellent playing styles and undeniable flair.
I want to look at some of the best young players all the way through Europe’s top divisions that are being tipped for stardom later in their careers. I also want to look at what makes these players so special both for now and later on.
So, without further ado, here is my selection of some of the five best rising stars in European football.
Lorenzo Insigne | Napoli
Starting my selection is the Napoli youngster, who is making quite a stir in world football. Aged 22 and standing at 5ft 4in tall, this Italian forward can be easily overlooked by the naked eye.
But soon this player will rise the ranks, thanks to his skill and style of play. Lorenzo Insigne can play just behind the striker, or on the left flank, were he is best known for cutting inside for a shot, his excellent dribbling and amazing work rate, mixed in with typical Italian charisma.
This Italy Under-21 star is set to be one for the future.
Erik Lamela | AS Roma
Again from Italy's Serie A, which seems to be excellent at raising young talent, this Argentinian forward has really added lots of skill and flair into AS Roma’s play.
As a left-footed player, playing on the right, defenders can only expect one thing: for him to cut inside. However, that is not always the case with Lamela, as he can weave his way round the defenders, going in either direction, thanks to his skill and link-up play with the rest of his team.
Lamela has already proven himself in the Italian top flight, so we can hope to see this starlet in the Premier League at some point in the future.
Christian Eriksen | Ajax
What is left to say about the Danish playmaker, other than that he is one of the most brilliant young players in world football.
Able to play in a central midfield position or on either flank, the 21-year-old has already played for Denmark at full international level, and is widely considered as their talisman, because of his flair and passing ability.
He is one of the hottest prospects in world football, and we can be sure to see him in one of Europe’s biggest leagues in years to come.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain | Arsenal
Blessed with lightning pace and a mature understanding of the game, the 19-year-old English winger is set to have a great future in football.
Aged only 19, Chamberlain plays with the head of a 30-year-old, but the skill and athleticism of his true age - with a brilliant understanding of the game, he glides past defenders and is a real game-changer for Arsenal when he is brought on.
With the skill-set he possesses and the number of years ahead of him, Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to be an absolute star both for club and for England.
Mario Götze | Bayern Munich
Aged just 21, this German superstar seems to have been in headlines all over the world.
He burst onto the scene for Borussia Dortmund, and has consistently been their most creative force, linking up with other world-class players like Robert Lewandowski and Marco Reus.
Others have believed in the German playmaker's ability, like the German giants Bayern Munich, who believed Götze was worth his €37m buyout clause.
We are sure to see great things from Götze In the future.
