Manchester United manager David Moyes is mindful of becoming over reliant on Robin van Persie and fears burnout for the Dutchman without sufficient back up.

Van Persie scored both goals in the 2-0 Community Shield win over Wigan Athletic on Sunday and Moyes said he would guard against overusing their star man from last season.

Napoli are ready to gazump Arsenal in the transfer market once again – this time for Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo.

Rafael Benitez has already beaten Arsene Wenger to the signing of Gonzalo Higuain this summer and now reports are claiming the Serie A side are ready to outbid the Gunners once again.

Barcelona right-back Dani Alves says he would love to play alongside Brazil teammate David Luiz at Camp Nou.

Chelsea have reportedly rejected a bid from the Liga champions for the centre-back and Alves believes it would be a great move for Luiz.

Manchester City are in talks over the transfer of winger Scott Sinclair to fellow Premier League side West Brom.

Sinclair has failed to shine since moving to the Etihad Stadium from Swansea City last summer and reports suggest he is close to a switch to the Hawthorns.

Tottenham Hotspur full-back Danny Rose claimed players were being picked on reputation when Harry Redknapp was in charge at White Hart Lane.

However, Rose claimed the arrival of Andre Villas-Boas put paid to that and now players that are “sacking off” training will be dropped.
