Everything now looks set in place for a sensational Old Trafford return for Cristiano Ronaldo, after Antonio Valencia relinquished that famous 'number 7' jersey ahead of the new season, according to the Daily Mail.

Ronaldo who has been linked with a summer return to Manchester United has continued to shun any speculation about his Real Madrid future and this latest move from David Moyes has added extra spice to the on going transfer saga.

The Portuguese international was said to had agreed a new long-term contract at the Galatico's but the forward insisted that was not the case.

With Valencia now taking up the 25 shirt, Ronaldo may see it as the perfect time to come home and pick up where he left off four years ago.

United's only chance to capture their star man may lay with Gareth Bale, who has emerged as Carlo Ancelotti's lone transfer target this summer.

Madrid have already seen a world record bid turned down for the Welshman, and Ronaldo is suggested to be unhappy at the proposed arrival of the 24-year old.
