Federico Macheda appears to have played his final match for Manchester United, with the Italian set to complete a season-long loan move to Doncaster Rovers, according to the Independent.

The 21-year-old's agent, Giovanni Ba, recently revealed that his client will leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of next season - which means Macheda is unlikely to pull on the United shirt again.

Macheda shot to stardom in April 2009 when, after coming on as a substitute, the then 17-year-old scored a memorable winning goal against Aston Villa at Old Trafford to complete another famous United comeback and help the club close in on another Premier League title.

His burgeoning reputation was then further enhanced a week later when he scored another winning goal against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

However, Macheda has struggled ever since: failing to score a single league goal with loan clubs Sampdoria, Queens Park Rangers and VfB Stuttgart.

And now the Italy U21 international is set to agree a loan move to Championship side Doncaster, who were promoted to the second tier of English football last season as champions.

Can Macheda resurrect his career at the Keepmoat Stadium? Have your say below.
