A Las-Vegas based martial arts club has secured a sponsorship deal with one of the best known brands in worldwide sport - Adidas - and becomes an endorsement partner.
Resurrection Fight Alliance, an organisations of aspiring MMA fighters, will debut the three-striped logo at its televised fight in Los Angeles on Friday.
The multi-year deal will see the Adidas symbol appeal on the RFA cage, competition mat, on cage fencing and bumpers and on all RFA promotional signage, graphics and digital platforms.
All fighters representing RFA will don Adidas MMA mitts.
Ed Soares, Resurrection Fighting Alliance president, said he is aware that Adidas are interested in adding MMA to its clothing line, which already includes boxing, judo, karate and Brazilian jiu jitsu outfits.
"It's a big step in the right direction for our young organisation to be affiliated with a partner like Adidas. I'm looking forward to Friday and seeing the three stripes in our cage," said Soares.
Raul Montolfo, national director of sales and product development for Double-D/Adidas Global, has said that the sponsorship deal with RFA is better than the established fight organisation UFC, because the sports company wants to partner a young organisation that has athletes at the grassroots level of the sport.
"Our goal is to start a grassroots programme and introduce the MMA line to a new market. We wanted to be part of a whole community of young athletes," he said.
The Resurrection Fight Alliance also has other sponsors that include Inca Kola and Let It Fly Energy drink.
