Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are in battle to sign Sky Bet Championship striker Troy Deeney, according to reports.

Sky Sports reports that the Premier League duo, along with Fulham, are eager to bring the player to the top flight from the top flight.

And, the Daily Mail claims Andre Villas-Boas is considering a £5million bid to bring the powerful 25-year-old forward to White Hart Lane this summer.

Spurs have lost the services of Clint Dempsey this summer, but added Roberto Soldado to add some much needed depth to their forward ranks.

Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor are the only other senior options available to the Tottenham Hotspur boss, and Deeney has already shown his form this season with a hat-trick against Bournemouth.

West Ham United, meanwhile, have added the services of Andy Carroll on a permanent deal, although Carlton Cole has left the club as a free agent.

Deeney would fit the bill for Sam Allardyce at Upton Park, with the former Walsall star able to work as a target man or in combination with a strike partner.
However, Martin Jol will be eager to stop the player from joining one of his Premier League rivals, and Cottagers representatives were present to see the player in action against the Cherries at the weekend.
