Arsenal are closing in on Bayern Munich's midfield destroyer Luiz Gustavo after having a €20million bid accepted, according to Goal.com.
The 26-year-old Brazilian was a member of the successful Confederations Cup and will be looking to play regularly to seal his place in the World Cup squad.
The report claims that Bayern Munich have accepted a bid for the destroyer and he will now be allowed to hold talks with the London club.
Gustavo has found himself on the periphery of the Bavarians’ squad after Pep Guardiola brought in Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona, which effectively ended the Brazilian's stint at the club.
Luiz Gustavo had fallen behind Bastian Schweinsteiger and Javi Martinez in last season's first eleven and it seems now as if his chances of playing is even worse.
Guardiola sees Toni Kroos as more of a central midfielder and will therefore be looking to play Götze in an advances role, leaving Gustavo behind Martinez, Schweinsteiger, Thiago and Kroos.
Should he move to the Emirates, he would add steel and much needed protection for the defence - something the Gunners has been lacking since the departure of Alex Song to Barcelona last year.
The Brazilian midfield destroyer is very discipline and will just sit in the hole in front of the back four and break up play, he is also very good on the ball so he will suit the Arsenal style of play.
Luiz Gustavo would be a very big coup for the Gunners and the type of high profile signing that the fans would really like.
Arsene Wenger will be looking to end the trophy drought and this would be a good step in convincing the squad as well as the rest of Europe that he will be looking to challenge for silverware this season.
