When hearing about this Luis Suarez transfer saga the same questions keep cropping up: Is he going to Arsenal? Will they up their offer? Will Liverpool drop their asking price? Should Liverpool drop their asking price?
Or why would he want to go to Arsenal when he said that the English press were making his life hell? It’s like we have all accepted that he definitely wants to go to Arsenal and it’s just a matter of time until the deal is completed.Or is it?
We have seen before with Suarez that things are never straightforward. After all why would he want to go to Arsenal with his reservations about the English press?
What would make far more sense is if he was giving Arsenal signs of encouragement to try and entice a bid from them so that the club he really wants to join make an offer for his services before they miss out on them.
Step forward Real Madrid.
However with their pursuit of Gareth Bale seemingly gathering pace surely even they would struggle to fund both purchases.
A move to Spain would certainly make more sense for Suarez. He would fit in better than Bale in many ways. Bale is a very similar player to Cristiano Ronaldo, whereas Suarez offers something else, a bit more pace and a greater goal threat.
He would also replace the departed Gonzalo Higuain quite nicely.
It is possible that his latest story that he needs to be playing Champions League football, is actually true, and he is willing to go anywhere to get it.
Of course this is possible and he should be playing Champions League football. After all it is the greatest club competition in the world and Suarez is undoubtedly a world class player.
With Arsenal showing their hand with this bid for Suarez surely if he truly wanted to join the Gunners, all he would need to do is hand in that transfer request and tell the club he would like to join them.
He knows full well that Liverpool won’t sell him until he hands in his transfer request because they don’t want their fans to think that they forced him out.
Suarez remains reluctant to hand in his transfer request because if he does and Arsenal have an offer accepted by Liverpool, he would have nowhere to go - except to the Emirates Stadium, of course.
