Top five: England v Scotland encounters (1)

Tonight, the oldest enemies in football meet for the first time this millennium, in what promises to be a highly-charged and passionate fixture, despite the fact that it is billed as a friendly.

The participants of the first ever international fixture, and next door neighbours England and Scotland are desperate to achieve victory at Wembley. For it is ingrained in their DNA to not lose to their ultimate rivals.

With almost 14 years passing since their last meeting, some of the current squads are almost too young to remember any previous encounters. However, they will still be appreciative of the expectation emanating from the stands for them not to fail the fans on this grand occasion to mark the FA's 150th anniversary.

Before Roy Hodgson and Gordan Strachan's sides kick-off, it is worth refreshing our memories, by looking back at some of the greatest showdowns between these British nations.
