Big spending French giants Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly looking at Barcelona star Dani Alves to further strengthen their defence.
French sports daily L'Equipe has claimed that the Ligue 1 champions are desperate to sign the Brazil international and could attempt to make a move within the next two weeks.
However, Barcelona are expected to reject the proposal straight away as relations between the two clubs are not in the best of terms after the bad mouth between PSG and the Catalan club over Thiago Silva this summer.
The La Liga champions have been looking for a central defender this summer and were interested in bringing Thiago Silva to Barcelona but were rebuffed away with PSG president Sheikh Nasser Al-Khelaifi saying that he would trigger Barca star Lionel Messi's release clause if the club continued to pursue Silva.
He further stated that the French club would continue monitoring more Barca stars if the Spanish club maintained their interest in Silva.
Thus a deal to bring Alves to Paris looks unlikely at the moment. Moreover, Barcelona's reluctance to selling one of their best stars to a side which is a direct Champions League rival is also a factor acting against the French club's plans.
However, PSG might attempt to sweeten the deal by offering Mamadou Sakho in exchange for the Brazilian right-back. Sakho is believed to be looking for a move from the French capital with Liverpool apparently leading the race to sign the French defender at present.
30-year-old Alves, who has been with Barca since 2008, is widely regarded as one of the best right-backs in world football and PSG are looking to add the player to their squad to take the place of Christophe Jallet who has not quite impressed at the club.
The Barca star has a contract with the club till the summer of 2015 and is PSG's first-choice for the right-back role next season. But if they fail to land Alves, the French club will look at other options like Arsenal's Bacary Sagna or Newcastle United's Mathieu Debuchy.
