Tottenham are facing stiff competition to sign Adil Rami, according to The Express.
The Valencia centre-back, who has expressed his desire to leave the Mestalla this summer, is wanted by Fiorentina, Napoli and Arsenal, but Tottenham have now added themselves into the mix.
During the course of the weekend, Italian newspaper La Nazione revealed that Serie A outfits Napoli and Fiorentina were going head-to-head for the former Lille man's signature, although Arsenal were still interested.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is now hoping to enter the race for the 27-year-old - who has a release-clause of around £10 million in his contract - in an attempt to add another quality defender to his squad.
After the departure of young prospect Steven Caulker, Villas-Boas is looking for another centre-back, and France international Rami is looking for a move away from Spain. Certain reports have said that the defender is unsettled, and has been given time off recently in order to address 'personal problems'.
Manchester City were interested in the defender at the beginning of the summer but have since cooled their interest, whereas it remains to be seen whether or not Arsenal will state their intentions with a formal bid.
Fiorentina are said to have been in touch with the players representatives in a bid to lure him to Italy, but Tottenham might have enough to convince him that his future lies in England.
