Tottenham have announced the signing of Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue for a reported fee of £9.5m - with a further £1.7m in potential add-ons.
The French midfielder joins White Hart Lane with just two days to go before the start of the new Premier League season, and becomes Andre Villas-Boas's fourth signing this summer.
The arrival of the France international will bolster Villas-Boas' squad after the club agreed to let Tom Huddlestone move to newly-promoted Hull City, along with Jake Livermore joining the Tigers on a season-long loan.
The manager has spent more than £50m recruiting new players that will help them challenge for the Champions League spot.
Capoue, who can play centre-back, scored seven goals in 34 league appearances for Toulouse last season, said: "Tottenham is a super club. It's the best club to continue my career."
The 25-year-old was named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year in 2012 along with now team-mate Hugo Lloris.
Capoue has represented his native county at Under-18, 19 and 21 level - as well as earning seven caps for the senior side.
