Czech international produces miss of the year contender

Czech Republic international Petr Jiracek produced one of the greatest misses of all-time against Hungary last night (Wednesday).

The Hamburg midfielder, who spent time with Wolfsburg last season, somehow managed to balloon the ball over the bar from two-yards after some great work from his teammates.

His 54th minute nightmare also proved to be a pivotal moment in the game, as the hosts equalised just three minutes later. Balazs Dzsudzsak did the damage from the penalty spot.

It all meant Libor Kozak’s first-half strike wasn’t enough for victory for the Czech’s, who would have been hoping for more against their lower-ranked opponents.

Howard Webb got a great view of the miss as referee, and the Premier League official was probably laughing on the flight home back to England.
