Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has insisted the club's fans have a lot to look forward to ahead of the new Premier League season.
Owen, who started his career with a hugely productive eight-year spell at Anfield, believes the Reds' new signings, coupled with the potential of Philippe Coutinho can lead the Reds to a successful 2013/14 campaign.
He told talkSPORT: "The players they have brought in have shaped up pretty well. Coutinho came last year but he has been a revelation. I have watched him live three times this pre-season and I've been impressed every time I've watched him.
"(Iago) Aspas has come in and he has settled well, Danny Sturridge is going to be back - there's a lot to look forward to if you're a Liverpool fan."
Liverpool get the new campaign underway with a home fixture against Mark Hughes' Stoke City on Saturday and, providing the current saga involving unsettled Uruguayan frontman Luis Suarez doesn't prove to be too much of a distraction, Rodgers will be optimistic his side are capable of mounting a serious challenge for Champions League qualification this season.
