With just over two weeks left in the transfer window, Arsenal have made just one signing, bringing in French youngster Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre.

But, in an interview with Arsenal.com, Arsene Wenger assured supporters there is still more to come from the club this transfer window.

"We are active," he said, speaking to Arsenal Player. "We are in a situation like Manchester United and Chelsea where everybody expects signings and at the moment not a lot has happened."

He's not wrong in saying that. Arsenal's small squad could face difficulty in maintaining rhythm this season due to injuries.

Already, with the start of the season just days away, it is a possibility Mikel Arteta could be ruled out with a thigh injury. The Spaniard is an important piece of Arsenal's puzzle due to his defensive work.

Thomas Vermaelen, Nacho Monreal, and Bacary Sagna are also carrying injuries, adding to Arsenal's defensive woes.

About Arteta, Wenger added: "Mikel has a slight thigh problem. We have to check that. I don't know if he will be out for the weekend. He has a scan today."

Wenger seems confident of new signings which could take away from injury worries. "There are 18 days to go, so that is a long time in the transfer market and we will be active.

"I cannot certify what the number [of players coming in] will be, but we will be active until the end that is for sure."

Rumours are circulating that Arsenal are preparing another bid for striker Luis Suarez which could be around £49million. Liverpool have been pretty adamant in saying the striker is not for sale, so maybe it's time to give up on the Suarez chase and maybe bring in some defensive reinforcements.
