With news emerging that Liverpool are being linked with Anzhi playmaker Willian, the star would be a great signing for the Anfield outfit.

With the future of the Reds' main-man Luis Suarez still in doubt, Liverpool are looking to improve their squad.

It has been rumoured that the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) are willing to sanction a marquee signing, which could potentiality be the Brazilian.

If Liverpool were to sign Willian, it would be a major coup for the club which desperately aims to break into the top four once again.

The signing of Willian will also show that FSG are willing to spend money and are also willing to back Brendan Rodgers, something John W Henry promised since he was appointed.

With the new season fast approaching, Liverpool will want to wrap up a deal quickly for the star.

If the Reds manage to secure the services of Willian, what will he bring to the club?

He is first and foremost a creator of goals for his teammates, and can provide assists for the likes of Daniel Sturrdige and Suarez, if he stays.

His ability to craft chances has continued despite his side’s winless start to the Russian Premier League campaign, having assisted all four of their goals so far whilst creating an average of four goal-scoring opportunities per game.

He’s at his best on the left-flank and would rate an almost comically good replacement for the sadly unrealised potential of Stewart Downing at Anfield.

Securing this deal will be significant for Liverpool, as Willian will increase their chances of securing Champions League football for the following season.
