WWE star Darren Young comes out as gay

Published 2 Comments

Current WWE superstar Darren Young has today announced he is gay. He came-out to a member of the TMZ team during an impromptu interview.

The Superstar is one half of tag team Prime Time Players with partner Tyson O'Neil.

His shock announcement has sent waves through WWE with superstars such as Stephanie Mcmahon, Vince Mcmahon and John Cena tweeting their congratulations for his bravery.

Many fans have taken to social networking sites to discuss the way WWE will handle this, with many are suggesting that he may now be given a push to a title whilst he has the popularity before disappearing into the background.

Others also say that this is all a storyline by WWE to bring in more varied types of fans. Either way, his sexuality should not affect how he does his job, whether he has to touch other half naked men or not, he should not be looked down upon or be judged on his sexuality because this shouldn't change anything at all in the 21st century.

WWE released a statement earlier today saying: "WWE is proud of Darren Young for being open about his sexuality, and we will continue to support him as a WWE Superstar."

It seems many WWE superstars are behind the 33-year-old and we will have to see if this is made part of a storyline on the first Raw after Summerslam.

The only other WWE superstar to announce he was gay was Pat Patterson after he left the sport.
