Manchester United have turned their attention to Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 24-year-old has emerged as a shock target for Red Devil boss David Moyes, and sources suggest that the Germany international fancies a move to Old Trafford this summer.
The Daily Mail report that the playmaker is well aware of Real Madrid's business with Tottenham for Gareth Bale and believes his position would come under threat if the Welsh wizard arrives.
Ozil's representatives have apparently told Madrid that he will welcome a move to Manchester United if Bale's move materialises.
The Premier League champions have also been linked with Ozil's team-mate Luka Modric, who has had limited first-team action at the Spanish capital after his move from Tottenham last summer.
Elsewhere, Manchester United have seen two bids rejected by Barcelona for Fabregas but Moyes is believed to be monitoring the Spaniard's situation and will wait until the final week of the transfer window.
The new United boss is yet to make a marquee signing for his club and wants to bolster his midfield with the likes of Mesut Ozil or Luka Modric.
However, the former Everton boss identified that he will have to break United's club record to land Ozil this summer, with the midfielder being valued at around £40million.
